7 Ate 9

7 Ate 9
Tara Lazar

And, really, who wouldn't want to learn?! After all, we're talking about Tara Lazar, superstar picture book author of such knee-slapping hits as 7 Ate 9, The Monstore, Little Red Gliding Hood, and Normal Norman. (If any of these titles are not already on your bookshelf, make sure to remedy this posthaste!)

But what about those leprechauns? Fear not, gentle readers! All critter-trapping secrets will be fully revealed; though not, I'm afraid, until winter 2020. Can we stand to wait that long? Alas, we must.

Here is the deal announcement with the details:

7 ATE 9 and THE MONSTORE author Tara Lazar's FOUR WAYS TO TRAP A LEPRECHAUN, a curious girl's quest to prove that leprechauns are real, with illustrations by Vivienne To, to Tamar Mays at Harper Children's, by Ammi-Joan Paquette at Erin Murphy Literary for the author and Justin Rucker at Shannon Associates for the illustrator (World).

Huge congrats on this awesome new book deal, Tara!

Once Upon a Winter

Once Upon a Winter
Megan Atwood

ONCE UPON A WINTER by Megan Atwood is available today! We're so happy readers can get their hands on this next installment in her Orchard series now. Congratulations, Megan!

"Atwood's latest in the Orchard series is an empathetic journey through Peter's struggle to find his voice, and readers will recognize his trouble interpreting murky emotions. They will also appreciate seeing how the patience and understanding exhibited by his fathers create a safe space for Peter to explore his feelings and experiences. Andrewson's illustrations add a whimsical charm to each chapter, depicting Peter and Olive as black. Endearing." - Kirkus

Ruth McNally Barshaw's ELLIE MCDOODLE books are beloved classics in the category of highly illustrated middle-grade. (If you don't know them, you should! You'll adore them, too!) So of course when Lee & Low was seeking an illustrator for a hot new book in this category, they thought of Ruth. And you can see it VERY SOON!

Coming in June 2018: NO BASE LIKE HOME, written by ESPN broadcaster and two-time Olympic medalist Jessica Mendoza and her sister, Alana Mendoza Dusan, in which an eleven-year-old tries to live up to her legendary older sister's softball skills on her travel ball team. Stacy Whitman at Tu Books is the fantastic editor on this project.

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS, Ruth! But we're the lucky ones, to have a new Barshaw book on the way!
