Frogs! Boots! Frogs on boots! And it's a lovely story about the all-too-familiar experience for most parents when their child focuses on their favorite item of clothing or shoes. And they wear that item or those shoes every single day!

I don't think kids are the only ones either. As an adult, I find myself getting very attached to certain sweaters. And boots? Hello? That is my always favorite thing!

Eliza Berkowitz at Sterling has bought world rights to Jill Esbaum's Frog Boots, a picture book about a boy who falls in love with a pair of frog-covered boots and then learns that they were meant for girls. Joshua Heinsz will illustrate; Christina Pulles will edit. Publication is set for fall 2019; Tricia Lawrence at Erin Murphy Literary Agency represented the author, and Alex Gehringer at the Bright Agency represented the illustrator.

We can't wait for fall 2019! This one is going to be a beloved classic.

Congratulations, Jill and Joshua! We are so excited to see your talents shine with this book.

Gather around, my gentle readers! It's time to celebrate a brand new book that is soon to be winging its way into the world. From the bestselling, beloved author Pat Zietlow Miller—can we ever get enough of her books? we cannot!—comes a glorious new read-aloud adventure. Here is the deal announcement:

New York Times-bestselling author Pat Zietlow Miller's IN OUR GARDEN, a classroom tale about students who create a vegetable garden on their school's rooftop, illustrated by Melissa Crowton, to Stephanie Pitts at Putnam Children's, for publication in Spring 2021, by Ammi-Joan Paquette at the Erin Murphy Literary Agency for the author and Kirsten Hall at Catbird Productions for the illustrator.

This book is sure to be another modern classic, and I for one can't wait to see the finished product. Shall we hold a garden party to celebrate? I'll bring the scones!

Huge congratulations to Pat!

Today we are so pleased to send you happy news for two EMLA clients!

First up: Dori Hillestad Butler, the author of more than 50 books for children, including the King & Kayla series, the Haunted Library series and the Buddy Files series. Her King & Kayla and the Case of the Missing Dog Treats was named a 2018 Theodor Geisel Honor book and her Buddy Files #1: The Case of the Lost Boy won the 2011 Edgar Award for Best Juvenile Mystery.

Needless to say, she's well-placed to launch a new young chapter book series! And so here comes DEAR BEAST, the story of Simon and Baxter, a dog and a cat learning to share the boy who, due to his parents' custody arrangement, travels back and forth between them every other day. Sally Morgridge of Holiday House signed it up earlier this year.

Next up: Illustrator Kevan Atteberry, who has completed work on his next picture book, GHOST CAT, due out with Neal Porter Books/Holiday House in June 2019. It is DREAMY, as was the process of making it. Publisher and author-illustrator alike were thrilled at the partnership.

Dori and Kevan both live in Seattle. They both are working with Holiday House. And now they're working on DEAR BEAST together! Holiday House committed to the first two books of the series, with the first to debut in summer 2020. Tricia represents Dori and Erin represents Kevan. Double EMLA success! We can't wait!

Huge congratulations, Dori and Kevan!

Opening a book by Jennifer Nielsen comes with one surefire guarantee: You will be transported, immediately and unequivocally, to another world. Her middle-grade historical epics include the bestselling and pulse-pounding A NIGHT DIVIDED and RESISTANCE, both of which are flying off shelves all across the country.

What's that you say? You want her to publish *another* historical thriller? Well, you're in luck. Here's the deal announcement that came out today:

Lisa Sandell at Scholastic Press has acquired New York Times Bestselling author Jennifer A. Nielsen's (THE FALSE PRINCE and A NIGHT DIVIDED) next historical middle-grade adventure. THE CARRIER is set in turn-of-the-century Lithuania, where books have been outlawed, and a girl becomes involved in the struggle to keep the printed word—and her country's culture and identity—alive. Publication is planned for Fall 2019.

Yes, folks! Not only is this incredible new book on the horizon, but it's on the actually-not-too-far-off horizon (relatively speaking, that is in publishing terms J)! Stay tuned, folks – it's another one not to miss.

Congratulations, Jennifer!
